Going from working in my shop at home to make extra money doing something I truly love, to making it my only source of survival in a matter of a years time is scary as hell. That's exactly what I did with Precise Detail Pros. One late June evening, I was approached by a friend of mine from work and he began asking me questions about the business. The cost to detail a vehicle, the cost of the chemicals, and so on. Little did I know a few days later, he would ask to become my business partner. Over the next few days we worked on the plan and began putting it into action. Less than 30 days later, we located the building we're currently in now, paid a deposit on it and got the keys. The dream was coming true years before I could ever imagine it. We fought with the city on several small things to get the shops business permits to actually open for business. In the mean time, I put my notice in at my day job that I was going into business for myself. You would think by now I would be nervous, scared or a mixture of all of those things, but I didn't really have time to feel those things. I worked day and night preparing for our opening, aiming for September 16, 2019. Before we opened, I needed to make a 3 day trip to Chicago to meet with some guys I had only ever seen on YouTube (Chicago Auto Pros - Jason Otterness & Greg Natanson) to have them give me a crash course in running a detail/tint business. I wanted to make very few mistakes early on, simply because we couldn't afford any costly ones or we would have been out before we were ever in. They welcomed me into their shop without hesitation and showed me about 10 days worth of stuff in 3 days. I made the trip back home and got right back to work getting the shop ready and still detailing and tinting as work came in. We finally got the thumbs up to open and what a relief it was. Once we opened, I guess I expected a flood of customers like it was black friday at Wal-Mart, but all I heard where crickets. Now we're open, how do we get the clients in the door. I had to lean on so much of what I learned while at CAP, and that trip paid dividends for sure. I began reaching out to past clients just to let them know we are open and where we are located now. They began to call, then they began to book. On day one, it was my self, & 1 other employee. Now we're 8 employees strong; with a marketing specialist, a full time window tinter, and 6 detail techs. We've exploded in our area. I sit back and wonder how this all happened in just 12 months. I can tell you what we have provided our clients and that is an experience, great customer service, honest work at a fair price. We keep our website & social media platforms updated daily. We ask for reviews, and suggestions on how to get better. Involving the customer makes them realize, without them, we're going to fail. We want to ensure each person who walks through our door, feels needed and appreciated. We treat each vehicle like it's our very own. That's in every job interview I have ever conducted, and I tell our employees that often. We keep our guys involved in continuing their eduction to become better at their job. We provide a stable work place for them. I still cannot believe I am sitting here just 12 months later, with a business that is excelling like it is right now. Thank you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
