It is important to understand that dish washing soap is designed to cut grease, off of your dishes, and in turn can remove wax, sealants and take a toll on other paint protections on your vehicle. There is a place for dish washing liquids in the detailing/car washing industry, but knowing when and when not to use them is the important part. If you're doing your own paint protection application on your vehicle(s), understanding washing your vehicle using the proper soaps is paramount. When we break out the Dawn, we're on a mission to completely strip the vehicles surface of all protection. Dish washing liquids, such as Dawn, aren't the "end all, be all" when it comes to removing old protection. We have numerous processes that we use when we need to remove protection, but dish washing liquid is one of the more commonly used methods. What we're wanting to accomplish with this blog, is making sure you know that washing your vehicle on a beautiful weekend with your run of the mill dish washing soap isn't the best thing for your vehicle. You're going to want go to your local parts store, or Wal-Mart and pick up car wash soap, specifically designed to lubricate your vehicles paint surface while you're washing it. They offer soaps with or without paint protection made in them. We like to wash your vehicle with a pH balanced car wash soap, without any protection, and apply protection after we wash, decontaminate your paint and dry it. We have found that the protection you're paying your hard earned money for is best used after the wash is complete, and it tends to last much longer than applying it during the wash or during the drying process. So I would recommend you keeping both soaps in your arsenal, but understanding when and how to use it is what's the important part. We welcome everyone to call us anytime they're unsure when to use what when you're cleaning your investment. We're here to help you. Make sure you're always reading the dilution directions on the bottles when mixing your wash buckets. Over soaping or under soaping is also a problem that we can cover in another article. Keep your rides right and tight!!
